FCC 5-0: Sprint can use 800MHz for LTE/3G

On Thursday 5/24, the FCC voted 5-0 to remove the technical restrictions from the 800MHz iDen spectrum. This means Sprint has the greenlight to use this spectrum to bolster its 3G service and launch LTE with service levels similar to 700/750 LTE from Verizon and other CDMA carriers.

While this result was expected, it is nice to see another sign pointing to Sprint launching great LTE service soon. This allows them more bandwidth to use to get away from Clear and their 4G spectrum and be done with that relationship.

Now, time will tell how soon Sprint takes advantage of this news. We hope it is soon, our EVO 4G LTE is itchy for some LTE lovin’ signal!
