LauncherPro coming back?

We all know how much the Android community loves their customization’s, whether it is simple wallpaper changes, full themed ROM’s or something in between, we want our Androids to be unique. One way of doing that is by installing a new launcher. While those new to Android might know of the extensive options that are out there now, if you just rewind a few years you would know the options were a little more scarce. One the earliest (and IMO the best) was LauncherPro. It was developed by Federico Carnales and was constantly being updated with new features that left everyone else in the dust.

After going all in and seemingly becoming the launcher of choice for most, the updates stopped and the developer went missing. It has been almost a year since the last update. This has left a bad taste in the mouths of many of us who decided to sink our hard earned money into helping the developer out.

I have since moved on to a new phone, going from the OG Droid to the Galaxy Nexus, and I am currently seeking a new launcher to fill my customization needs. I decided to take a gander over at the LauncherPro forums and came across the following post:

According to Leticia, a LauncherPro support representative, Fede is working on an update. Is Fede and LauncherPro slated to make a comeback or is LauncherPro just filling our jars of hope with vanishing gummy bears? According to one review of the app on the Play Store they are.

Dev is non-existent

It has been almost a year since the last update and the developer is missing. The support staff just gives you the run-around saying that an update will come soon (which they have been saying for the past year). LP is a good launcher but sorely outdated.

ACS has reached out to LauncherPro in hopes of getting an answer. At the time this article was published and a response has not been received.

Will LP make a comeback or are there too many options to care anymore?

Until next time.
