Friends, Romans, Android Fans, Lend Me Your Ears!!
If you were under the Illusion you could not have root, Proclaim that you now CAN!
I bring good tiding of great news. Seasoned developers Shabbypenguin (ACS) and Playfulgod (Unleashedprepaids) have teamed up and have brought to the party what no one else has, Root! This great gift is for the Samsung Illusion on the Verizon Network and the Proclaim is on the Straight Talk Program. This is truly excellent news. Prior to now these phones have received no love or support from the community, and their users…left rootless out in the cold. If you have one of these devices the task is not nearly as daunting as what rooting once was where if you breathed on it wrong during a flash you had a brick; nope we’ve come a really long ways from then.
Ok so down to the nitty gritty. Here is the write up in our forums here at ACS and I believe it is mirrored over at Unleashedprepaids for downloads and support. One thing before I get to the good stuff, there are still a couple of bugs to be worked out, but with any great work in the beginning there are always issues to go through, albeit with as remarkable as this work is from these guys the bugs are minimal at best. Here’s the skinny:
Youll need to download this app onto your phone: Superuser
You’ll need to grab the following files for your computer;
Stock Kernel
Pre-rooted Kernel
Odin
DriversIf you need to install the drivers then do so now.
Extract Odin and launch the program.
Load the pre-rooted kernel into the PDA slot.
Put your phone into download mode by powering on the device while holding volume down
Connect the phone and watch for the yellow com port in odin.
Click start and wait for the device to rebootCongrats you are now rooted, however due to a bug we are still working on there is no wifi/cell service. so youll need to flash the stock kernel listed about following the same instructions to restore your phone back to working (with root)

Playfulgod for helping with this kernel
djgru for being our little bitc…-tester!! (oh and hes the one who tipped us off to you guys being without root)
So there you have it, more landmark work coming from the great minds here at ACS and our friendly Android community. If you don’t have a Proclaim or an Illusion, find someone who does or go make some friends and help them get a firm footing while rooting it up.
Thanks Shabbypenguin and Playfulgod for this great gift to the Amdroid community.
